American Associated Pharmacies is a nationwide cooperative of more than 2,000 independent pharmacies. AAP began operations in 2009, when two major pharmacy cooperatives – United Drugs of Phoenix, Ariz., and Associated Pharmacies, Inc. (API) of Scottsboro, Ala. – joined forces to form one of America’s largest and most comprehensive independent pharmacy organizations. Today, AAP continues to operate API, its independent warehouse and distributor, with two warehouse locations in the U.S.
- American Associated Pharmacies (AAP) oversees cooperative membership and manages major vendor agreements.
- Associated Pharmacies, Inc. (API) is AAP’s distribution operation offering Brand Rx, Generic Rx and select OTCs at competitive prices and substantial rebates.
In 2021, AAP also entered into a joint venture between its subsidiary, Arete Pharmacy Network, and PPOk, forming AlignRx, the nation’s largest independent pharmacy services administrative organization.
AAP is governed by a Board of Directors elected from our membership – real independent pharmacy owners facing the same industry challenges as member pharmacies. Last year, AAP and its subsidiaries paid hundreds of millions of dollars in rebates and dividends and saved our pharmacies millions more in operating and acquisition costs. We’re able to achieve this level of return through strong market relationships built upon trust.
AAP provides member-focused advocacy, tools and comprehensive resources necessary for its members to improve both profitability and patient care.
